Benaras/Varanasi or Kashi is known to be the place where a person attains moksha (liberation) after death. As the sun rises, groups of people can be seen assembled at Manikarnika Ghat, a ghat famous for cremation of the dead, beside the Ganges to cremate their beloved ones.
