Dhunopora: one of the key rituals of Shitala Puja ( worship of goddess Shitala, the god of curing disease. and ill energy) and shiv puja. It is performed usually by females of one family. They sit with couldrons of fire and their family member throws Dhuno or powdered charcoal and incense mix which spews into big fire balls. They believe by doing this they are offering prayer to the gods who in turn will bring good health and fortune to their family.
